Night Desk.
Your night shift, without the night.
Night Desk will handle tenants’ urgent problems at night and alert your on-call contractor. It leaves everything else for the morning. Phone calls come later still.

What it will do
What it will do while you sleep.
Answers the routine
Bin days, rent dates, parking, Wi-Fi. From your own notes.
Spots the urgent
You write the emergency list: leaks, lockouts, no heat. Anything on it goes to your on-call person.
Alerts who you chose
Only the contractors you approved, in the order you picked.
Writes it down
Every thread, summarised, waiting for whoever opens up.
It will show its work
Every night will have a log.
- Flagged “ceiling leak” as urgent. Why: “leak” is on your emergency list.
- Told the tenant to call 999 if anyone is in danger, and to call 0800 111 999 (Great Britain) or 0800 002 001 (Northern Ireland) if they smell gas. Why: every urgent reply starts this way.
- Alerted Dave, your first on-call plumber. Why: you ranked him first.
- Gave no repair steps. Why: you haven’t written any for leaks, and it only gives steps you’ve approved.
- Stopped replying. Why: Sam opened the thread.
Example log, written for this page.
It will know when to stop
Safety first. Then your rules.
- Every urgent reply tells people to call 999 if anyone is in danger, and to call 0800 111 999 (Great Britain) or 0800 002 001 (Northern Ireland) if they smell gas.
- It only gives safety steps that you have written and approved. If there isn’t one, it doesn’t make one up.
- It won’t decide whose fault something is, or promise a repair date you didn’t set.
- It won’t give medical or legal advice. It says a person will reply in the morning, and tells you.
When someone from your team joins, Night Desk will stop replying. Straight away.
Example
A leak, reported at 1:40 a.m.
Night Desk will start with the safety basics, alert your on-call plumber and share only the steps you wrote and approved. You find a short note in the morning.
Water is coming through my kitchen ceiling
Hi, I’m the assistant for Linden Property Group. I’m an AI, so I’ll keep it quick. If anyone is in danger, call 999. If you smell gas, leave the property and call 0800 111 999 (Great Britain) or 0800 002 001 (Northern Ireland). Is anyone hurt, or do you smell gas?
No. Just water on the kitchen floor.
Thanks. I’ve alerted your on-call plumber. Linden hasn’t given me any other steps to share, so I won’t guess. I’ll message you as soon as I have an arrival time.
Sam joined. LanternKey has stopped replying. Sam has the full thread.

Night Desk questions.
When will it be ready?
We don’t have a date yet. We’re starting with First Light. See First Light and we’ll tell you where this one stands.
What about phone calls?
Phone calls come later still. Night Desk will start with messages.
How will it tell an emergency from a question?
You give it your own list: leaks, no heat in winter, lockouts, gas. Anything on the list goes to your on-call person straight away.
What if someone is in danger?
Every urgent reply tells people to call 999 if anyone is in danger, and to call 0800 111 999 (Great Britain) or 0800 002 001 (Northern Ireland) if they smell gas. Night Desk doesn’t replace the emergency services.
Does it give safety advice?
Only steps that your team has written and approved. If there isn’t one for the problem, it says so and alerts your on-call person. It doesn’t make one up.
What if it is not sure?
It says so, and still gives the 999 and gas emergency reminder. It tells the tenant a person will reply in the morning. Then it puts the message at the top of your list.
Will people know it is an AI?
Yes. It is built to say so in the first line, every time. When your team joins the chat, it stops replying.
